I think I must have accidentally deleted my previous reply. At any rate, Peter Gabriel belongs on the list. He plays piano, drums, flute, oboe and english horn. And he plays them all really well.

Oh...you got to give Larry Graham some multifaceted props as well,
Along with Bootsy Collins...these guys were very creative in their use of electronics to enhance their instruments both live & in the studio, all to create that Signature Sound. Some others include :
Patrice Rushen, Roy Ayres, Steve Arrington( Slave & his own Band the Hall of Fame), Mr. Ray Parker, Jr ( Guitar, Bass, Keys, Vocals),
Guitarist Jesse Johnson (The Time), Drummer/Blues Guitarist/Keys
player Johnny Guitar Watson, Trumpeter-Keyboardist/Producer Quincy Jones, Guitarist/Vocalist/Producer Rafael Saadiq ( from Tony, Toni, Ton'e,,)

I would have to say two of my fellow Ohioians should be added to the List..the Late Guitar/Synthesizer/Talkbox wizard & Zapp Bandleader Roger Troutman & Ex-Ohio Players-Funkadelic Keyboard player/ Drummer/vocalist Junie Morrison...Two of the baddest cats out there back in the day...( 70's & 80's) Both of these guys were Innovative in their use of sounds & studio tech....not to mention their Live shows were Great!!
