Anthony is a truely gifted drummer who prays to some day travel the world spreading the gift of music on the drums. Anthony Brown is originally from the Bay Area Town of Richmond California. He first started playing drums at the age of 15 with his brother Wayne who was a Bass Player. While living in the Bay Area he played in several "garage bands", and during this time he studied music at El Cerrito High, Contra Costa Community College and Cal Berkeley.
In 1977 - 1978 he was accepted into the Berkeley Summer Music Program where he studied music and was taught by the Great Bill Bell. There were several up-and-coming Jazz Musicians at the school. Rodney Franklin, Fred Washington, William Kennedy, Vincent Lars, and Norbert Sachell were a few of the noticable musicians. After High School Anthony went on to study music at Grambling College and California State University Long Beach. Since moving to Southern California in the early 80's, Anthony has performed with several groups, choirs and bands. Anthony is known for a "steady and phat pocket and his ability to sing and play well." Anthony is highly influenced by Billy Cobham, David Garabaldi and Harvey Mason.
Anthony credits his Mom for teaching him faithfulness, endurance and love. He thanks his Dad for the willingness and desire to "Always work hard and always do your best". His brother Wayne for teaching him the importance of keeping "time" and the "One" and having a "Phat Pocket". His brother Eric for encouragement and affirmations and his sister Dee Dee for always being there whenever he needed to talk. Anthony was a single Dad for 13 years and credits his sons who are now 20,22,24 and 27 for keeping him young and on his toes. Anthony has been happily married for the last three years to his lovely wife Barbara who is truely his best friend, confidant and advisor. Anthony loves the LORD and says that without his guidance he would be totally, totally lost.
