I have been off for a while...trying to keep up our or own website and keep the momentum going around this city for Smooth Jazz. We've now started a Jazz Cafe which is held in a really nice art gallery the 1st & 3rd saturdays of each month. It's not our own venue, but it is a start!
Just got back last night from Cali, and the Newport Beach Smooth Jazz Festival, and the Gaslamp Festival in San Diego. Both were excellent! Both were a tribute to Wayman Tisdale since he was actually booked to play at those events. What a tremendous loss, but I rejoice that he is with the Lord.
One of the hightlights at Newport was when Candy Dulfer did her set. She invited Mindi Abair up to play with her and then Jessy J, another saxtress who is busting the Smooth Jazz charts right now. All 3 ladies blew the roof off! They said they were going to give the Sax Pack (Kim Waters, Steve Cole & Jeff Kashiwa) a run for their money. They certainly did! I'll be posting the pictures on our own site, you can check them out there. Looks like you had a great time with Kim Waters....that man is wonderful.
