MANUELA LOPES

THE BIRTH PLACE

They say the sunset in southern Africa is amazing and in the evening the stars are brighter than anywhere else. I was born there, in 1963, in a town called Beira, bathed by the Indian Ocean, in Sofala, Mozambique.

THE HIGHLIGTS

When I was sixteen years old, Bonnie Tyler and Status Quo's British producers, heard me singing in Algarve, Portugal and were hooked on my voice. I work with them for two years singing mostly pop tunes. I learned a lot about pitching, while I was working in the recording studio.
Years later I has the chance to sing with international sax player Ronnie Scott (owner of the Ronnie Scott's jazz club, in London!!!) on a jazz venue, in Algarve, Portugal, where I got a positive response from the local media and jazz fans, encouraging me to keep singing.
In 1998, I produced my own CD, called "Paisagens", where I included 3 of my own songs.
In 2004 I opened the All Jarrreau's concert in Algarve, Portugal.

THE MUSICAL INFLUENCES

I am a self-tautgh musician so I have attended to the most important of all schools, the school of life!I have been singing throughout Portugal, Spain, England and Germany, having the chance to work with great musicians, who shared their skills with me, making this beautiful musical journey so wonderful. My main influences are Blues, R&B, Jazz, Rock, Pop, Funk, Latin. I like to think that my own compositions show those influences.
