Born, and raised in Chicago, Rick Parma is continuously setting a new standard for saxophonists everywhere. At just 28 years old, Rick has exploded with his 2nd solo album released January 2006. With superb tone and fierce playing style, Rick has taken smooth jazz to a whole new level. Rick displays a passion for many types of genres, from hip hop, rock, Latin & dance, all deeply entrenched with a smooth jazz feel. Rick would turn on the radio at home to WNUA (the smooth jazz station) and try to mimic his musical mentors such as Dave Koz, Kenny G, Warren Hill, Richard Elliot, and David Sanborn. Rick has been performing all over Chicago land such as Grant Park, Downtown venues, Rockford, Peoria, and everywhere in between with a variety of different local groups. Funk, Soul, R&B, Jazz, Hip Hop, Classic Rock, Latin and blues But he always new he needed to break away and do his passion which is smooth jazz. He is now one of the most sought after sax players in Chicago. From session work, live performances to solo albums. He is always ready to put on show for his fans. Saxman becomes an entirely different person when that sax is in his hands. Without the sax he is a laid back, easygoing guy. Put a sax in his hand, and he transforms into this energetic, in your face, intense crowed pleasing performer. Saxman works a crowed like no one else you'll ever see. An up close and personal performance is just one of the many things you can expect when Saxman performs. Chances are, if your anywhere in Saxman's reach he most likely will come right up to you and make you feel like it is a concert just for you. His song Gotta Keep Movin from the new album “Just Getting’ Started” has gotten air play on stations across the country. He was one of the featured artists in the March and April additions of the Abyss Jazz Magazine. His CD sells out every show and he’s no stranger to meeting his fans. The CD is main Stream available on Apple I-tunes and many other Download sites.
