Your music is great! And thanks you for the invitation. I'm from Cali myself, (San Fernando Valley) I still make the trek every year to the Newport Beach Smooth Jazz Festival. After moving up here and finding very little Smooth Jazz, me and fellow jazz lovers, began our efforts to build the our Society in a viable market for Smooth/Contemporary Jazz lovers, and the musicians who share their extraordinary talent with the world. Below is a copy of our mission statement that tells who we and what we do and what our aspirations are:
The mission of the Smooth Jazz Society of the Inland Northwest is to promote and educate the public regarding this outstanding yet often underexposed and underserved genre. We shall place an emphasis on providing support and a network of culturally diverse smooth jazz artists, building a multicultural music arts center, providing venues and opportunities that will showcase the seasoned and new smooth jazz artists, especially reaching out to the talent within our minority communities and our schools.
Our vision is to make Spokane the nucleus for smooth jazz within the Inland Empire, reaching out to Idaho, Montana, Southern Washington and British Columbia. We shall strive to provide an environment that fosters the wide diversity found with the smooth jazz genre, where each culture will gain respect for contributing their passion to the success of smooth jazz. This will not only benefit smooth jazz lovers and artists, but it will also bring opportunities to the community by way of new venues, employment for local musicians, attracting top smooth jazz artists to our region, hosting an annual Smooth Jazz Festival and contributing talent to existing annual events.
There you have it! We've also started our own network, that focuses on the needs of the folks in the western United States. We'd love for you to join us, so we can introduce you and your music to our people over here and it would give you the opportunity to have another place to sell your music. Hope to hear from you soon! www.smoothjazzspokane.ning.com
